Emotional Intelligence: Tips to Maximize the Power of Self- and Social-Awareness for the Working Lawyer
Monday, April 29, 2019, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM CDT
Category: Continuing Legal Education

In recognition of the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being’s Report and findings, the WBAI announces the creation of the first ever Women’s Well-Being Committee, chaired by Courtney Wylie (Drinker Biddle) and Shannon Callahan (Nixon Peabody). Both Courtney and Shannon are lawyers who now specialize in attorney well-being, leadership and development. As part of their mission on the Well-Being Committee, Courtney and Shannon will address the six aspects of well-being called out by the National Report as being critical to lawyer well-being: the areas of social, emotional, occupational, intellectual, physical and spiritual well-being. This effort is co-sponsored by the Illinois Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being of the Lawyers Assistance Program.
Launching this effort is a two part series of workshops on “Emotional Intelligence: Tips to Maximize the Power of Self- and Social-Awareness for the Working Lawyer.” In the first part of the series, you will cue in on skills and strategies for self-awareness and self-management, and will learn strategies to practice increasing your own Emotional Intelligence or EQ. Learning how to recognize your emotions and understand their effect on your behavior and performance provides you with the tools to navigate all aspects of your life more effectively. Specifically, you will learn strategies designed to increase your emotional intelligence leading the way to deeper and more meaningful relationships; enhanced creative thinking, complex problem-solving, and analytical ability; greater satisfaction at work and at home; improved work-life balance and stress management. The second part will show you how to increase the EQ of others, leading others with inspiration and coaching while staying true to yourself.
