CLE: The Future of Voting Rights 2022 Virtual Lunchtime Appellate Seminar
Monday, October 17, 2022, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CDT
Category: Continuing Legal Education

The Appellate Lawyers Association (ALA) and the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) cordially invite you to attend an appellate practice seminar on the future of voting rights on Monday, October 17, from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. The presentation will cover the impact of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), including the two recent Supreme Court cases that have narrowed the scope of the VRA. The presentation will also address two voting cases the Supreme Court has taken up this term, including the North Carolina case that could dramatically change the way our elections are conducted.

The Presenter will be Denise Lieberman, adjunct professor at Washington University Law School, where she teaches voting rights. Professor Lieberman is also Executive Director and General Counsel for the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition and has been a voting rights attorney for more than 20 years. She recently made a presentation on this topic to The Missouri Bar. ALA President Jonathan B. Amarilio will moderate.

Participants will earn 1 hour of MCLE credit from the ALA. The fee is $10 for ALA and ISBA members; $25 for non-members. The Zoom link will be provided via email after registering for this event. Please note that only speakers will be visible, so participants need not dress formally for this event.
